A child after my own heart...

Last night, Andy got Annika ready for bed, but she didn't seem tired, so he decided to let her play awhile longer. While she and I played, she kept asking to go to bed. She kept repeating "Ny, ny" (Night, night). So, I took her up to bed, where she happily crawled in with her beloved blankie. Grandma tought her that word. Now, whenever I ask her, "?Es hora de dormir?" (Is it bedtime?) She responds with "ny, ny." It's all one language to her. She'll also repeat "awa" (agua) whenever she hears the words agua or water. Fascinating indeed.

Pregnant Lady Goes Grocery Shopping

and comes home with:
          2 lbs grapes
          2 lbs cherries
          3 lbs nectarines
          4 lbs strawberries
          6 lbs peaches
          2 bananas
          1 apple
Hmm. What is that lady craving? And that's just the fresh fruit. Other fruity purchases included:
          1 pkg raisins
          4 bottles apple juice
          1 bottle prune juice
          2 boxes raspberry Jello
The juice is for Annika and the raisins are for oatmeal, but the Jello is another odd craving. I intend to freeze strawberries and peaches and make muffins out of the apple. As for the rest, well, there isn't going to be any constipation around here this week!

2 Pacifiers Don't Pacify

Of late I've been going to rescue my fussing daughter from her crib after naps and finding her pointing rather urgently at a pacifier that has fallen out of the crib. I pick it up and hand it to her, where she's so pleased to get it, she attempts to pop it in her mouth. The problem? She's already sucking on a pacifier. What follows is a moment of confusion while she tries to decide which one tastes better and why she needed the other one in the first place. After she decides to leave the first pacifier in her mouth (it's all warmed up anyway), she tucks her blanket under her arm so she has a hand free to carry around the spare Nuk. That's until Mom decides that blankies and pacifiers are for naps and tosses all the pacifying paraphernalia back in the crib. Oh what injustice!
