In

We've been having fun with the OUT concept for awhile now. Take the clothes OUT of the drawer, take the dishes OUT of the cabinet, take the papers OUT of the file drawer, etc. Now, we're mastering the IN concept. Put the socks IN the trash can, put the flip flops IN the bathtub, put Mommy's car keys IN the dishwasher.

One of our friends here who works for the waste management company was commenting on all the perfectly good things people throw away. I have a hunch that today's toddlers are doing their part. We're learning to sift through the trash cans before we take them out. You never know just what you might find.

This wet dish rag made quite the toy.
She's been carrying it around for at least
a half hour and she threw a fit when I
tried to take it to clean up the kitchen.

Language is so fascinating

I think we have the answer. For those who have been asking, will she speak English or Spanish first? The answer is Spanish. Don't ask her where her nose is or what the doggy says in English. She doesn't know. Spanish? No problem. Those who have been around her lately have been commenting on her constant chatter. She's full of important things to tell you. Maybe it's my imagination, but there seem to be several things she says frequently in her babble, that sound like things we say to her all the time. "¿Que es?" (What's that?), "dice" - from ¿Que dice el perro? (what does the doggy say?), and her favorite of the last few days - "Sí, sí!"

Will she ever be fluent? That remains to be seen. For now, we'll celebrate the small victories.

Curiousity polished a pot

They say half a lemon dipped in salt will clean a copper bottomed pot. I decided to find out. You won't mistake my 30 year old pots for the ones on the shelves, but I don't think they look too bad either! Now on to more productive things.
