This next picture is a shot of the first time my daughter obeyed me. I told her to give the baby a kiss. In spanish, no less! She was also pretty taken with the baby's eyes that close when he lays down.

Why is it so much fun to keep changing colors??? Anyway. Went to the doc today, Annika is 10.5 months old, weighing in at 17 lbs, 9 oz and measuring 27.25 inches. She's a little peanut, but growing at a healthy rate, according to her last measurements.

I had my first kitchen fire last night. I had just turned on the jenn-air grill and was working on my salad while it heated. Out of the corner of my eye I saw giant orange movement. I whirled around to find that the chocolate pudding recipe that I had printed off the internet yesterday was up in flames. I turned off the grill and blew on the paper... it was a full 8.5 x 11 sheet and it was solidly on fire, so there wasn't much stopping it. Luckily it burned out pretty quickly, and didn't start anything else on fire in the process. *Phew* For a moment I thought I was actually going to have to figure out how to use a fire extinguisher. I grilled my steaks over what smelled like a campfire, and this morning I had to clean the ashes out of my grill.
