Kids are on a roll today

After breakfast conversation:
A: Mommy, let's pretend you're the mommy and we're your kids, okay?
K: Yeah! And the daddy's gone to work!
M: *Speechless*


And, this afternoon K sings to herself in her room: If you're happy and you know it, two or three... Hoooray!

My baby's not a baby anymore!

And I'm loving it. I know, I'm supposed to be sad, but I'm not. At all. I quite like sleeping all night. And with that, here's the long awaited pictures. I don't know why it took me so long.

We're very excited to announce our other new nephew. Even if I'm a week late and I haven't seen him and I have no picture to post, I'm still excited. He was born Aug. 15 at 6:06 am, weighing in at 8 lbs 5 oz.

Brentin Zane Amos

We're very excited to announce the arrival of our new nephew! He was born this morning at 6:45, weighing in at 7 lbs 10 oz.

Wisconsin Dells Trip, July 2010

We had a fun trip to the Dells. We enjoyed fishing and boating and playing in the pool, and much more.

K gobbled up a piece of gnocchi on her plate and promptly asked for more pinocchi... o.

2 year old logic

K: I like the tinkerbell one!
M: No honey, I don't like Tinkerbell.
K: Why?
M: She's not modest.
K: Yes she is. She's modest on her face. But not her tummy.

Tummy

P: Did you finish your strawberries?
K: Yep. *Points at her tummy* They're curling up with my eggs and my sandwich.
Note: Eggs were for breakfast, sandwich was lunch, and this was evening.

Our discussion over breakfast

M: Do you know whose birthday it is today?
A: Whose?
M: Uncle Eric's.
A: Oh! Does he have a husband?
M: A wife?
A: Yeah.
M: No, he doesn't have a wife.
A: Are husbands boys or girls?
M: Husbands are boys and wives are girls.
A: Ok. Do I have another uncle who doesn't have a wife?
M: No, just one. All your other uncles have wives.
A: *Pause* Mommy, I'm still thinking about who I'm going to marry.
M: Really?
A: Yeah.
M: Who do you think it might be?
A: I don't know. Maybe Uncle Eric?
M: Probably not Uncle Eric.
A: Why not?
M: Well, people don't usually marry their relatives.
A: Oh.

Age 4 arrives with disappointment

A: Mommy, my dress still fits me. I'm four, but I'm still little.

Little conversations with little people...

K is up screaming at 5 am. Mom comes down, bleary eyed and finds her sitting on her pillow.
M: "Keira, what's wrong?"
K, pointing down frantically: "Somebody's in my bed!"
M, heart skips a beat knowing she did leave the kitchen window open a crack, tries to resist the urge to look under the bed: "What?"
K: "Somebody's under my covers!"
M, still bewildered, looks at the lifeless covers: "What is it?"
K: "A ladybug!"
M, breathes a sigh of relief and proceeds to sift through the covers. Found nothing.
