Here's one you don't see every day - a cedar-topped Collings with tortoise appointments and a simple, clean look. And we have recently learned...it's one you're not likely to see again as Collings has decided not to offer any more cedar-topped models in the future! That's a shame, because I have always loved cedar-topped guitars. This guitar and the Rockbridge quilt sapele 0 that recently arrived have only confirmed that sentiment. The cedar top on this Collings adds some mahogany-esque warmth without sacrificing the rosewood overtones. I like the added bass of the SJ body style over the OM and smaller Collings guitars, so I can unequivocally say that this is my favorite Collings fingerstyle guitar to date. Excellent condition, with an extremely high gloss finish that gave me fits when photographing the thing. An uncommon guitar and an uncommonly good one. A great addition to the stable for a fingerstyle guitarist with spruce-topped Collings, especially the fingerstyle player looking for quick response and a warm, inviting tone.
