Here's an as new Circa dread for you prewar Martin dreadnought/Tony Rice fans out there at a very nice price break. This one's another monster - I just love John Slobod's work. He absolutely nails that cool, clear, tone that just cuts like a knife, and the voluminous bass response is just sweet. In addition to the unique Palo Escrito back and sides, this guitar features a slightly unique design. In order to replicate a '40s Martin, John left the braces tapered and managed to thin the top enough that the guitar is very responsive and open sounding from day one. I think the tapered bracing gives this guitar a little more meat in the trebles than the Cocobolo/Adirondack dread that was here earlier this year. These Circa dreadnoughts are absolutely amazing...and the most basic new Circas start at $6k or so with a considerable waiting list. If you know more than 2 Tony Rice licks and aren't afraid to use them, you need this guitar! The consigner needed to sell a few guitars for financial reasons and had a hard decision between this guitar and another custom Circa. In the end, he decided to keep the Circa he had owned longer, and his loss is your gain!
